Obituary of John Andrew Brokenbough Jr.

JOHN ANDREW BROKENBOUGH, JR. was born in Salem, New Jersey to the late John
Andrew Brokenbough, Sr. and Betty Gray on March 17, 1953. John departed this life on
January 8, 2018 at University Medical Center, Newark, New Jersey.
John Brokenbough was affectionately known as BJ by his family and friends. He
attended Williamstown Public Schools. While in high school he excelled at football while
maintaining his grades. He attended Cleveland State University, where he studied Law
Enforcement.
BJ was a hard working man. He could sell you anything. John enlisted in the US
Marines, serving a tour of duty in Vietnam. He reached the rank of Sergeant as a MP. For
a short time he played professional football.
John Andrew Brokenbough was baptized at Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church,
Newark, NJ in 1965 and he loved the Lord. He was a caring, loving, outgoing person, who
spoke his mind no matter what you said.
He leaves to cherish and honor his memory his devoted fiancée, Theadora A. Banks; one
son, John Brokenbough III; two daughters, Nygrah Smith and Crystal Gregory; a sister
Brenda Scott; a brother, Edward Atkins; five granddaughters, one great granddaughters;
and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
