May Jehovah, the God of all comfort and tender mercies be with you at this difficult time. 2nd Corinthians 1: 3&4. Hold onto his promise at Acts 24:15 of the resurrection and seeing your loved one again, but in better conditions as Rev 21:3&4 tells us, no more pain, sorrow, sickness or death. For more comforting scriptures you can visit JW.ORG.

Melvin’s family: I'm so sorry for your loss. I went through a similar situation and I was very helped by the hope that I found in the Bible in John 5: 28, which says, "Do not amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I am sending you a link with more information on this hope. https://www.jw.org/en/publications/magazines/wp20140101/

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to family and friends of Mel. He was an amazing colleague during his time at County College of Morris. And, even after his departure, he remained a close friend. While I know he will be missed greatly, find solace that he is at peace.

Sincerest sympathy to the Brown family on the passing of Mel. I have known him as long as I can remember - from his Little League days to sitting next to him on Lakewood HOF committee! He always called me purple people eater ( don't remember why- but he did ). He was a true gentleman and made a difference in many lives. Rest In Peace my friend.

Sending my deepest condolences and keeping him and his family/friends in my prayers. I remember Mel with that cool swag. He was truly a genuine nice guy and always made you smile. He loved talking about football and joining our lottery pools. I missed him when he retired and I will truly miss him dropping by to say hi. He will truly be missed by everyone. May he rest in peace.

Words cannot describe the sorrow I feel with your passing. You will be remembered as a king, gentle soul, with a heart of gold. You and I were colleagues for close to 20 years, but I also considered you as a friend. You were good to me and my family and we will remember you always. May you have eternal peace.

To Shirley and the Family of Mel Brown
In memoriam
On behalf of the students, faculty and staff at Rutgers Newark, we extend our deepest sympathies on the loss of your husband, father, uncle, grandfather and friend.
Mel was a beloved part of the Rutgers Newark community for more than 30 years, a man cherished and deeply appreciated for his many years of service.
He was my CUZ (we used to say since we had the same last name) and a friend to so many as he navigated through sometimes difficult terrain as the Director of Financial Aid, hearing both cries for help and disappointment. He always handled these situations with grace and sensitivity. I remember the times he would listen so intently to what you had to say, shaking his head to show understanding and never cutting you off or adding his own interpretation. He would softly ask you a question to better understand what was needed or simply say "I got it." .
No one had a smile like Mel. It lit up the room and you always noticed it and so smiled with him. I believe I can say without hesitation that there was NO ONE within the University who ever regarded Mel with anything but genuine respect. His colleagues are so brokenhearted as they cared for him and feel so grateful that he was part of our lives for so long, and even after he retired.
We thank you, the family, for allowing Mel to share so much of his life with Rutgers University. His death has saddened us all. He will be missed yet we know he is with our Lord and Savior, happy and blessed. May that thought comfort you as you continue on a journey of loss, love and remembrance. His friends and colleagues are here for you.
Sincerely,
Marcia Brown
