Obituary of Naska Ianthe Robinson
Naska Ianthe Robinson née Christie was born January 25, 1948 to Hazel Verona and
Zepheniah Adolphus Christie in Trelawny, Jamaica. In illness she was deeply cared
for by her sister Pauline and transitioned on July 20, 2019. She was preceded in death
by her father, mother, sister Daphne, and brothers Liston and Vaston.
As a young lady in Jamaica, Naska earned a scholarship, to attend boarding school at
the prestigious Westwood High School. Upon graduation she worked tenaciously
through the ranks of the Resident Magistrate Court as Clerk of Courts. As a
representative of the judicial system in Jamaica for over 20 years, she served as an
official on both criminal and civil court cases. Well respected for her knowledge of
procedures and professionalism in execution of her duties, she developed a stellar
reputation resulting in many lifelong friendships. She was a Mother, who devoted her
life to her two children Everette and Raquel Watson while also nurturing and
enriching the lives of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Naska immigrated to the United States and studied nursing at Raritan Valley
Community College. Ever committed to public service, she went on to become a
Registered Nurse and worked as a psychiatric professional at the Veteran's
Administration Hospital in Lyons, NJ for over 20 years and retired in January 2015.
During her tenure at the VA she continued to develop many cherished friendships
with colleagues which remain intact to this day.
An example of excellence throughout her academic and professional career, and a
pillar of strength amongst her peers, Naska epitomized grace, generosity and a lifelong
commitment to education, and sponsored several members of her family in their
educational goals. Wonderful, wise, diplomatic, and elegant; her warm heart,
convivial personality and indomitable spirit inspired all who had the privilege to meet
her.
To honor her memory, she leaves her children Everette and Raquel. Her daughter-in-
law Melinda Watson. Two granddaughters Dr. Dalela Watson and Sana Kirkland.
Sisters Norma, Marcella, Phyllis and Pauline. Brothers Burton, Valentine and
Herman along with treasured nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
