Obituary of Patrick White
Patrick “John” White was born in Newark, NJ to Dallas and Alma White on December 30, 1946
and departed this life on September 18, 2019 in Edison, NJ at JFK hospital after a long illness.
Partrick was an introvert who cherished his privacy but loved people with a calm spirit who was
known to help everyone he could if asked. He loved fishing with his late grandmother and had a
fishing outing with his mother and brother in-law. He enjoyed recharging through long walks by
himself as he spoke to the Lord. He especially liked to care for plants; He would receive a twig
in turn it into beautiful tree. He and his wife loved to see the plants progress and shared in the
joy of transferring plants to larger and larger pots as they created beautiful blooms.
He graduated from Eastside High School in Newark, NJ in 1965. He was quite a gentleman and
a great friend as told by his classmates in his yearbook. He was extremely proud of his ability to
rehabilitate homes in his spare time. He believed with love any house could be brought back to
life to become a home.
He was previously employed with Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA) Local
3 for 22 years. Through his work, he contributed to the building of the New Brunswick AMC
Theatre, The Bridgewater Commons Mall, Costco on Route 28, The Robert Wood Johnson
extension and the list goes on and on. He loved working at Fedex who assigned him to
international flights at Newark Airport for 10 years. He was a hardworking man who never
missed a day of work unless the governor called a state of emergency.
He loved the Lord and when he was able he would spend time in worship. He joined Second
Baptist in 1993 and served on the usher board for many years becoming one of the head
ushers. Family was important to him and he would attend every event he was invited to if able.
He was predeceased by his parents Dallas and Alma White, grandmother Cora Stocklin, uncle
Willie Stocklin and aunt Rose Stocklin. He is survived by wife, Debra Lee-White(Monroe,NJ),
son Artwon Patrick White(Long Island, NY) and stepchildren, Tamisha Lee-Griffin
(Hatchell)(Rahway, NJ), Lequan Lee(Virginia Beach, Va), T. Bequia Lee (Orange, NJ), sister,
