Celebration of Life
Lillie Mae, affectionately known as “Lil” was born on September 5, 1953 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to the
late Mary Lee Hill- Banks and Fred Lewis Banks Sr. She departed this life September 28, 2019 in New
Brunswick, New Jersey.
In 1965, Lillie’s family relocated to New Jersey where she attended New Brunswick public school and
graduated from New Brunswick High School in 1972. Lillie was employed by Rutgers, The State
University of New Jersey, as a cook’s aid in Neilson Dining hall until her retirement in 2016.
Lillie was a caring, loving person with a keen sense of humor whose big bright smile had an effect on
many hearts she touched. She was the true definition of the life of the party. Her interest included
cooking, listening to old school music, dancing and watching old shows on TV land. Most of all, she
enjoyed spending time with her family and friends who will always cherish her memory in their hearts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and older brother Fred.
Left to cherish Lil’s memories are, her only son, Raymonte; four grandchildren, Emonie, Rayven,
Raymonte Jr., and Pharaoh; her sisters, Cynthia Banks and Kecia Banks of North Brunswick, NJ,
Stephanie Wallace of Alabama and Yvonne Williams (Andre Williams) of Connecticut; three brothers
Maurice Banks of New Brunswick, NJ, Dave Banks of Alabama and Charles (Joe) Banks (Virginia Edwards-
Banks) of North Carolina; Aunts and Uncles, Benny and Pearl Griggs, Ruby Hill, Earlene Hill-Banks, Lee
Hill (Toby), Leroy Broadnax and Gwen Broadnax; Longtime friends, Theresa Adams-Tyus, John Bell and
Leona Brown; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends and neighbors.
