Obituary of Ludie Rozier
Ludie Rozier was born in Richland, GA on July 15, 1945. She was the fifth precious gift born to Maeola and Jimmy Redding. On Thursday, October 17, 2019 Ludie was granted her wings at the age of 74. Ludie was known for her sophistication, class and style. She was an example to her family and friends of what grace and elegance should look like. Ludie was an advent reader, who loved to laugh, shop and sing…she had the voice of an Angel. She truly was a beautiful person both inside and out. If you had to describe Ludie in one word, it would be “Diva”!
At an early age, Ludie was introduced to the Lord and was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church in Brooklyn, GA (the Radney family church). She was predeceased in death by her parents Maeola and Jimmy Redding; her brothers L.C. Redding, Leroy Redding, and Preston Redding; and great grandson Corry Garry, Jr.
Ludie was educated in the Stewart County School System and graduated from Richland High School in 1964. After graduating, she relocated to Linden, NJ with a few of her siblings. She was employed with Hyatt and RCA. Ludie started her career with General Motors in 1981 and happily retired after 30 years of service. Ludie was affectionately known to her co-workers as “Lulu”.
Ludie joined White Rock Baptist Church in 1966, along with her family, after relocating to New Jersey, where her stewardship included the Gospel Chorus, Praise Dance Ministry, Nurses Ministry, Pastor Aide, and Women of Worth (WOW) and also helped the Praise and Worship Team. Ludie enjoyed her daily chats with her sisters Annie and Rose and Anna Mae Brown (cousin). She was Atlanta Housewives number one Fan…every Sunday night she was glued to the TV, don’t you dare utter a word when this show was on.
Ludie leaves to cherish her loving memory, her son Herman Rozier; two sisters Rose McGhee of Columbus, GA and Annie Redding of Linden, NJ; one brother Henry Mac Redding of Linden, NJ; one grandson Corry Gary (Yaira) of Winter Haven, FL; seven great grandchildren Kayla, Israel, Jamirah, Zaira, Gabriel, Alyson and Adyson; three godchildren Rene’ Smalls, Daniel Adams, Jr., and Latoya Stevenson,; one sister-in-law Lila Redding; devoted longtime companion James Bowens; Cousin but more like a sister Shirley Broughton (Ken) of Atlanta, GA, best friend Sandra Stevenson a multitude of nieces, nephews, loving friends along with her White Rock Baptist Church Family.
Ludie Rozier is the daughter of Maeola Thornton Redding, who is the daughter of Mabelle Radney Thornton, who is the daughter of George and Mary Radney.
