Denise Lydia Grant was born on February 21, 1954 to the late George Grant (father , and Estell Spencer (Mother) of Newark New Jersey.Denise was lead into into eternal rest on Friday October 15th 2019
Denise lived in the majority of her life in Newark New Jersey and attended the Newark Public School System, graduating from Arts High School. She furthered her education at Howard University where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in education.
Denise began her teaching career working at Newark Pre-School council (Head Start Program) teaching 3 and 4 year old children. She moved onto Newark Public School as a teacher assigned to McKinkley Elementary School teaching grades 1-8, plus working the After School Program, cheerleading coach and taught evening adult classes.Denise served over 30 years and worked endless hours.
Denise extended herself by collecting clothes and gathering food for people around the school community.
Denise love having fun times of laughter with family and friends, shopping, enjoying eating good food and writing poetry. She has always been interested in African memorabilia from clothing to statue figures.Denise has traveled with her mother to Japan and with friends to India ,Alaska, Australia, and Africa.
Although Denise wasn't much of a cook , she would follow directions from her (Grandmother) Lucille Spencer that she cherish and devoted caring for for until she passed away at the age of 106.
Denise's proudest moment was when she joined and became a member at St. James AME Church in Newark New Jersey
Denise leave cherish memories of her life, Derek Spencer (Brother), Ezzkel J Spencer (Nephew), Donald Murphy (Cousin), family and many friends.
