Obituary of Iesha Howard

Iesha Howard On August 31, 1979, a beautiful 3lbs bundle of joy named Iesha Monique Howard was born to Dorothy Mae (Howard) Jones and Daryl Sheron Thompson. Iesha soon won the heart of her late step-father, Rodney “Pop Pop” Jones, who fathered and cared for her as his very own until his untimely passing. Iesha was a proud native of New Brunswick, NJ-where she had very fond memories of being reared by her grandparents, Rev. Roosevelt “Daddy” Howard and Portia L. Howard-both predeceased. But on the evening of March 19, 2020, Iesha Monique earned her Wings of Glory, and has taken on her rest in the bosom of Christ, the Lord. Iesha attended Middlesex County Public Schools and graduated from New Brunswick High School- NBHS Class of 1998. She played JV Basketball her Freshman year & JV Softball her Sophomore year. She was a member of the NBHS Elite Chorale. She attended Shaw University of Raleigh, NC where she majored in Criminal Justice. For a season, Iesha sang in the choir at Progressive Church of God in Christ, where the late Hubert Burwell pastored. At the age 5, Iesha became an active member of the community’s Royal Uniques Drill Team, under the leadership/organization of Vet. Police officer, James Neal. Iesha’s squad took the National’s in Baltimore and they won the state championship. Iesha was a very hardworking, multi-disciplined young woman. No matter how far she had to travel or how sick she would get, she would work. Iesha loved herself some music. Coming up, she was R&B group Jodeci’s most self-acclaimed #1 Fan. Later, she fell for the likes of Dru Hill, Jagged Edge, 112, and we cannot forget her forever favorite R& B soloist, Tank. But in 2001, she found a greater love and began a courtship with Jermaine F. G. Jones. On July 29, 2006, the two became one. From their union, Jaylynn “Lyn Lyn” and Jaydah “Bean Pie” Jones were born. In 2017, Iesha confessed Christ and became a member of Holy Temple True Born Saints of Christ Church of Edison, NJ- under the leadership of Bishop William Seawright, Jr. Iesha loved to sing, cook, listen to good music, and sit and ‘rock’ in a chair. She was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys’ fan. Overall, Iesha she loved her family because family meant the world to her! She deeply loved her mother, and thought her mom was a superhero, who could do anything. She loved and felt she could, and therefore, would talk to her “Pop Pop” Jones about anything. She loved and was very thankful to God for Bishop William Seawright, Jr. for his spiritual support and guidance. She strongly loved her husband. But most of all, Iesha’s daughters or “My babies” as she often referenced them-were her most prized treasures and her life, and all those who knew her best, knew that! Iesha was predeceased by: “Pop-Pop” Rodney Jones; Grandmother, Portia Howard; Grandfather(s) Rev. Roosevelt Howard & Galloway “Joe” Thompson; Uncles: Jesse L. Howard & Clarence E. Hamilton. Those Iesha leaves to cherish her good memories are her daughters, Jaylynn & Jaydah Jones; her mom, Dorothy “Dot”; father, Daryl S. Thompson; Paternal Grandmother, Clara H. Thompson; Godmother, Mildred Porter; Maternal Uncle(s), Roosevelt Howard (Helen), Ricky Howard(Geraldine), Anthony Howard (Vicky), Rodney Howard (Desire), Mark Howard (Iesha), Robert Howard (Frances), Great Uncle, Johnnie Howard (Lula); Aunts: Patricia Howard, Lisa Wilson (Roger), Aretha Howard-Freeman (David), Portia F. Howard, Great Aunt(s): Shirley Johnson; Alice Flowers (Charles), & (Emma Payton. Paternal Uncles: Lynn Toby Hamilton & Xavier Thompson (Deborah); Aunt Regina Thompson & Cheryl Armstrong (Edward); 3 siblings: Dominque Edwards, Joseph Thompson, & Jessica Thompson; and a host of nieces, nephews, close cousins and friends.
