Obituary of Constance Clary

Please share a memory of Constance to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On March 30, 2020, God called to rest our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Constance V. Clary. She preferred to be called Connie. She was born to the late Walter and Susie Mae Hawkins on March 24, 1956 in Brunswick County Virginia. During her early years she was baptized and became a member of Meherrin Baptist Church. She was educated in the Brunswick County School system where she became a member of the High School National Honor Society and graduated 9th in her class. She also attended UMBC in Baltimore Maryland. After relocating to New Jersey, Connie was joined in holy matrimony on September 27, 1975 to the love of her life and her high school sweetheart, James Rainey Clary. From this union, they were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Melanie & Natasha, who were the light of her life. Connie later joined Miracle Baptist Church where she was a faithful member. She really enjoyed singing in the choir and learned how to sight read music. She never hesitated to volunteer her time whenever called upon. She also became a member of the Heritage Chorale in Plainfield as a tenor for many years. Connie enjoyed travelling and was always raring to go on the next adventure. Connie was a vibrant family person. She was a strong believer in higher education and strongly supported her daughters to further their education. She was always eager to help any of her family members when needed. In 1982, Connie met her new neighbor Margaret Fears. Their friendship grew stronger over the years and Margaret became her best friend. They supported their kids in many school and community activities such as the PTA, Booster Club, Girl Scouts and track meets. They would take their children on mini vacations and to plays. Connie even supported her daughter as an adult with bowling as well as her grandson with martial arts. She leaves to cherish her beautiful memories to her husband, Rainey; two children, Melanie and Natasha; one sister, Nadine; 4 brothers, Keith, Arnold, Eric, Delbert; one son-in-law Jemille; one grandson, Noah; two sisters-in-law, Debra and Silvia; one niece Sara; two nephews Devon and Wesley, an honorary brother, Thomas Tyrrell, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
