Obituary of Hilma Olive Scott
Hilma Scott went home to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, April 9, 2021.
Hilma was born on May 31, 1944 in Saint Elizabeth, Jamaica, West Indies. She was the daughter of the late Calbert and Estelle Nembhard.
Hilma married her beloved husband Bertram Scott on February 27, 1965, and was blessed with three children, Christine, Dahlia and Gary.
Hilma was best known for her hospitality, generosity, great cooking and baking. Her door was always open to anyone in need or who just wanted to stop by and chat. She loved to cook large meals it was not in her nature to let you leave empty handed. She had a big heart helping others, including family and friends, and was very devoted to her husband, family and Christian faith.
Hilma came to the US December 27th, 1967. She worked tirelessly to make a life here in order to bring the rest of the family to the US. She worked at Aeronautics Air Freight for 25+ years. She was never one to stay still for very long. She took up Real Estate sales, she became a Nurse’s aide because she loved to help those in need. And lastly, became part owner of a Laundry service in NYC on W33rd Street and Manager for the apartments she owed above.
Hilma is survived by her husband of 56 years Bertram Scott. Children: Christine Brockington, Dahlia Phillips and Gary Scott; Grandchildren: Anisha Pittman, Raquel Phillips, Gabrielle Phillips, Jordan Baskett and Christopher Phillips. Great Grandchildren: Skye Pittman, Madison Pittman and Braylen Pittman. Siblings: Dorette Abrahams, Winant Nembhard, Margaret Thompson, Elsie Robinson and Kathleen Nembhard and Countless nieces and nephews.
