Obituary of Elizabeth M Sharp
Elizabeth Mae Sharp was born on June 13, 1944, in North Edison, NJ to Daisy Anderson and John Will Harvest. She was born and raised in North Edison, NJ and resided there before moving to Highland Park, NJ in 1972 where she resided for the past 49 years with her late husband of 38 years, Melvin Lee Sharp Sr.
Elizabeth received a degree in practical nursing from the Middlesex County Adult Technical School in 1966 and received her LPN license later the same year. After receiving her LPN license, she worked at Roosevelt Care Center in Edison, NJ for over 31 years until she took an early retirement in 1997.
After retiring in 1997, Elizabeth spent most of her time at church doing outreach and missionary work. She was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in North Edison for many years before moving to East Brunswick Assembly of God Church in East Brunswick, NJ. She was most recently not only a member, but a founding member of the NJ Tabernacle Church, which still meets each Sunday at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Edison, NJ. Sister Liz was known to read the bible cover to cover twice a year and was a consistent member and the musical coordinator of the 4am prayer line. She could often be caught playing and winning scrabble most Saturday afternoons with one or more of her grandchildren.
Elizabeth is survived by her four children: Dawn M Jackson and Melvin Lee Sharp Jr. of Highland Park, NJ; Mark C. Sharp of North Plainfield, NJ; and Dana N Sharp of Philadelphia, PA. ; her 5 siblings Katherine Johnson, Marine Lovett, Ida Bea Guy, Joe Harvest, and Larry Anderson; her 9 grandchildren, Darlene Sharp, Stacey Williams, Ashley Williams, Nadira Sharp, Isiah Sharp, Josiah Sharp, Maya Sharp, Jayda Sharp and Nala Paulhill; two great grandkids Aniyah Ruffin and SaRiyah Sharp, a host of nieces and nephews and close friends. She was preceded by her parents Daisy Anderson and John Will Harvest and her brother John Harvest and her loving husband Melvin Lee Sharp Sr.
