Condolences Statement from the Poole Family (Aunt Dorothy, Uncle Mike, Cousin Mike Jr.) and the Williams Family (Cousin Allison and Cousin Chris)
Our hearts are broken. We’ve lost Rori, our niece and cousin - someone who was so special, caring, funny, loving and sweet.
We’ve loved Rori all her life. Rori’s warm smile and open heart revealed her light. Rori was beautiful and loyal. She took care of her family, and she will always live in us and watch over us - her love IS unbounded. I use the present tense “is” because her love is not contained by her physical body. Her spirit will never die. Our spirits will always be connected.
Rori was a lover. Rori once told Aunt Dorothy that no one loves Tasha more than her. She took her role as big sister and best friend seriously. How incredible and awesome it was, what a blessing it was, to receive pure love from Rori.
As much as we grieve, we find joy and laughter in the beautiful memories Rori created for all of us:
• When Rori and Tash were little kids, their Mom and Dad brought them to DC to attend a social justice march and a picnic with Aunt Dorothy and Uncle Mike. As an infant, Rori was easy to take care of – she always had a smile on her face and was happy to be held (unlike Tash who only wanted to be held by her parents according to Aunt Dorothy).
• Rori was from the east coast, through and through. One time, Ninna, Tasha, Rori and Khaire (who was about 1 year old) visited us in California. Rori kept saying how “nice” Uncle Mike was as a driver. We asked her “What do you mean?” She said “Uncle Mike lets people merge in front of him and EVERYTHING! Wow! He’s so nice!” That told us all we need to know about what kind of driver Rori was”
• Another time we visited Aunt Ninna’s house, and we had a pool day in the backyard. Afterwards we had crabs at a picnic table, and a bee casually swooped in, grabbed a giant chunk of crab meat off the table and struggled to fly away. Rori leaned over and said “those…are gangsta bees”, we 100% believed her, and we’ve laughed about that moment for years.
Rori, we love you and we know that our souls will endure together.
