Obituary of Maurice Eley
Mr. Maurice Eley was born on June 29, 1956, in Newark, New Jersey, to the late Nora G. (Baby Sister) Mc Neil and Wilbert Eley. On Sunday, December 12, 2021, Maurice departed this earthly life to gain eternal rest.
Maurice was reared in Newark, New Jersey public school system, where graduated from Weequahic high school in Newark, New Jersey. He graduated from Bloomfield College with honors in Business.
Maurice started his own business like his father. He was very successful. He sold suits and accessories to Pastors, bankers, lawyers, and anyone else whether they had the financial means. Maurice knew that they were all God’s children, and our job is to take care of one another. Maurice loved life, his family, and friends. His joy was to put a smile on peoples’ faces especially those broken at heart, reminding them that all things are from God. Maurice loved his mother liked no other, but he loved God and his son Jesus Christ best. Maurice lived strongly to God’s word, found at Exodus 20:12, “to Honor Your Father and Mother so that you may live long.” He honored his mother with all his heart. Maurice was a great father, and a wonderful brother. He was a dad to so many fatherless ones. A true friend and a son made his mom proud. He was a ray of sunshine, with a smile that brightens hearts. Maurice was a true lover of God.
Maurice was preceded in death by his loving brothers, Navarra Darden McNeil, and Vincent Eley.
Maurice leaves to cherish his precious memories; his eight sisters: Sheila Darden, Michelle Eden (James), Trudy Alexander, Roxanne Roach, Laqueta R. Eley, Sonja Y. Eley, Charmaine Davis and Willette Reeves; his eight brothers: Geno Eley, Ricardo Rickey Darden, Douglas Alonzo Darden, Christopher Tyrone (Tidy) Eley (Beatrice), Wilbert Eley, Jr. (Rosalind) Douglas Roche, James Williams (Justina) and Samaadda Saleem Hall, several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
