I was the technical veterinarian for poultry at Merck, working with Esther. One week, I had to come down from my home in the Adirondacks to the NJ office and go through all of the old literature to see what needed to be discarded from the storeroom. Esther was to help. On the first day, when I told her what we were to do, she looked down at her gorgeous suit and heels and said, "No way! Not in THESE clothes!" (she wore jeans the rest of the week). Esther always looked sharp and dressed very well at work. She was extremely professional in her appearance and her work. With a good sense of humor about dealing with stuff like that storeroom situation.
And she was always a great help to me. Even doing the dirty jobs like the storeroom assignment. But more often the "dirty job" was trying to sort some kind of payment system at work and getting it put through after 20 e-mails. Or writing careful directions for me to be able to sort through those kinds of things at work.
I worked with Esther her entire tenure at Merck and I will miss her dearly! She was like a mom, who is always there to help you sort through life. If I will miss her as my work mom, I'm can only imagine how much her family will miss her.
My greatest sympathy for Rashana and her extended family.
