Kevin and I are deeply sadden to hear this news. I also remember with fond memories a little boy coming home from school and sitting at my kitchen table doing homework while waiting for one of his sisters to come home and open the door. I cannot even try to understand the pain you and Wayne and the girls are feeling but know that are thoughts and prayers are with you. Just remember that you and Wayne are great parents. We saw the love and care you gave to Wayne after he came home from the war and the way to always responded to your girls. Hang on tight and love each other anyway you can. Remember there is no right or wrong in how you feel at this difficult time. Thank you for sharing with us.

Wayne, you were my cousin and a very good friend too. You were steady, humble, welcoming, helpful and a man of many talents. I always loved how you embraced your diverse upbringing with your Black and Kenyan backgrounds. I will miss our conversations. I remember meeting you and your sisters for the first time in Kenya in 1994/95. That began our shared love of music (put me on to Master P/No Limit), and I still have the mix-tape y’all left me on that visit (Queen Latifah - UNITY was the first song). I would never acknowledge it, but you were the better basketball player. Hope they broadcast Knick games in heaven. Rest In Peace, a King
among men.

Remembering you, Wayne, for your love, your service, your protection, your passion and commitment! Wayne, in all the significant stages of our family’s lives, you have been there! You taught the Andrews’ boys how to play basketball, how to appreciate rap music, you taught them how to play video games and so much more. As parents, Wayne, your counsel on how to raise Black
men in America has been invaluable. We have wonderful memories of your famous smile, sweet heart and humble soul! A Biggie quote we remember from you, “Excellence is my presence, never tense, never hesitant.”

Wayne Jr. will always hold a special place in our family. He was not only a friend to Cheryl and me but also a mentor to our children Kai, Justin and Jayvyn. We thank God for giving us the time we had to spend with Wayne, to get to know the kind and thoughtful friend who would do anything to support and protect us. Although we will miss him dearly, we know we will meet again. He has
left a lasting impression on our lives…one we will never forget.

Thank you for being so welcoming as a member of the family. You saw something in me and wanted to make me better. Our Street Fighter battles are legendary and even though I could never get that win, you wanted to see my improvement and growth so I can always match you move-for-move. I will always cherish those lessons as it’s that drive for excellence and never-ending growth in our battles that I use every single day in practice. You will be missed, my brother. I know we will spar again down the road.

What can I say to the coolest person I’ve ever known, my younger brother? You were so cool, brave and courageous and I looked up to you so much. You were someone I wanted to be like, yet never thought I’d actually ever be able to do it. The things that scare me or hold me back, you went after full-speed ahead without hesitation or doubt and I always admired that about you so much. You
always saw your beliefs through to the end and stuck to them regardless of what anyone thought about you and I respected that about you so much. I really miss you. Until we meet again <3

Wayne is my inspiration for writing (along with Mrs Mafia from BGA) though I think we have a very different technique and styles lol. I know this is probably short notice for the funeral service and burial but if you can share this with the rest of the Family it would mean a lot to me. I want you all to get an understanding of what this Man means to me and how his impact resonates. I know you’ve taken on so much that a sibling should not have to go through. My siblings are my entire life right along with my children and fiancé. I thank you so much for taking the time to reach out to all of us that truly have been positively impact by Wayne.
Since the early days of our friendship Wayne has been someone I could always rely for advice, to share deep ideas and philosophical thoughts with, to exchange random stories, or to kick my behind and put me in my place in Street Fighter. My Lord, he was unstoppable in Street Fighter. Regardless of the distance that reared up, he was one of the few men in my life I called Brother. Discernibly not a brother of blood. That’s important and significant in its own sacred way. We were Brothers in the sense that regardless of differing points of view, amount of time passed, or physical distance, when we spoke, it was if we spoke only a few days prior. One of my more recent and memorable conversations with Wayne was about our different ideas on multiverses and how they could interact with our universe. We then spoke of our time in the military and I mentioned veteran benefits which I felt guilty about receiving. Wayne reassured me that I had no reason to feel guilt and gave me the support I didn’t anticipate or realize I needed. There were many things we didn’t see eye to eye on as well. We had differing ideas on masculinity, conflicting views about what is “good” hip hop, and contradictory feelings on the significance and meaning of being a Veteran to name a few. Yet, anytime we talked about these issues, or anything other subject for that matter, we listened with intent and understanding. The notion of criticizing or judging each other on our different views was fundamentally nonexistent. We had a mutual respect and admiration for each other that our differences could not exist in. We saw each other as Brothers; nothing more or less. Knowing Wayne reenforced in me what it means to call a man Brother. Viewing a friend as a Bother is about respect, it’s about bestowing a sense of admiration, it’s about support, and, foremost, it’s about love.
Wayne and I made the mistake of letting time and life get between our Brotherhood. We grew distant and I can’t fully comprehend how this happened or even when. It crept into our lives like a disease progressing slowly and enveloping nearly everything we built prior. But be strengthened in the fact that love shines through, even if not fully nurtured. Amongst it all I never stopped viewing Wayne as my Brother and I have no doubt he ever stopped viewing me as the same. I made the mistake of thinking often of my Brother but not making the effort to reach out. Not checking in to see how he’s doing or letting him know how I’m doing or sharing random stories or talking about crazy scholarly ideas. It is distressingly clear to me now how easy it is to get distracted, to neglect loved ones and to let distance defeat you. It’s is critical for ourselves and our loved ones that we not take our relationships for granted. Be sure to let those close to you know that you care. More consequently, let those you think of and those you care for know what they mean to you and how distance and time won’t overcome how they have impacted your life. When the relationships falter, make the effort to preserve it regardless of pride or assumptions or drifting apart.
Wayne’s role in my life hasn’t and will not die. I mourn the loss of sharing some new music that we might not even both like or read the latest piece he authored. I mourn the loss of getting rocked by him in Street Fighter or basketball (the stutter-step is an unconquerable move). However, the impact he’s had on me is eternal. The concepts of love and respect developed through our Brotherhood is something I instill in my children which they will carry on. I teach my children to respect and learn from their friends as well as demand the same. If it’s not a mutual relationship in that sense, then it’s not a brother/sisterhood. If it is that mutual respect and love that my brotherhood with Wayne taught me, then it’s imperative that it be cherished, respected, and nourished. Few people without children can say their legacy can resonate through generations but Wayne’s truly will. Through his writings, through his Brothers and our children, and through his Family that flourishes on, Wayne’s legacy is as eternal as any man’s can be. He is forever my Brother, PYRO.
To all who loved Wayne, my thoughts and love are with you all. We mourn the loss of Wayne and, indeed, celebrate his life and impact on use together.

I don’t really have the words to express how I feel right now and what you and your family must be going through. All I know was Pyron was a great and great person, I even know he did real estate at one point. I was much closer to him after the military service then during. I still remember like it was yesterday. He used to come over and spend time with me and play basketball we would play all afternoon after I got off work. Sometimes I would win and most of the time he would lol. He was a really good ball player. He kept me in shape cause at the time I was overweight according to Marine Corp standards and I can tell you I slim down some after the games we played in the scolding Jacksonville, NC heat. The weather is horrible out here, even worse now then before. I also remember watching one of the super bowls (football championship game) with him at his apartment on gum branch road. But, most of all I remember him talking passionately about his book that he was writing for a long time. I know how much that book meant to him. All those nights we spent together and him speaking to me about and me asking questions about his writing. I know there is nothing I can say to bring him back and I’m so sorry for your lose(what a cliche thing to say). If you and your family need anything please let me know. I’m really at a loss for words. Last time I spoke to him, he was doing really well He had his VA money coming in, he spent all his day writing and back in New Jersey with his family (the good life) I still can’t even process this right now, even as I’m writing. Sincerely, Archie.
