My deepest condolences to Karen, and Wally, and the entire family. I’m so saddened by Daniel’s passing.
I always thought of Daniel as quiet, respectful, a great dancer! (I saw him dance)!. Just a nice young man. But he was much more. He sharpened his skills at everything he did, no matter how challenging! He has left an indelible legacy. What a Résumé! Job well done! I encourage all our young people who knew Danny to take a small piece of him in their heart as a guide. I will miss seeing him at his Aunt Beverly’s house chilling with Biancha and Dominique, two phenomenal young ladies I must add!. Great job to Karen and Wally and the family.

I rushed by your side Friday to see you one last time, I didn’t realize til I walked up to you that you were already gone. No amount of words can ever reflect how much you meant to me. You were my cousin first but my brother always. I’d do anything to hear your voice, your contagious laugh, and to see your big smile again. We’ve been going on adventures since we were kids, experiencing life together, gaining memories i’ll never forget. You were my shoulder to lean on during any rough time. I looked up to you more than you’ll ever know. Your positivity through your Cancer Battle was something so amazing to witness. You never let your diagnosis define you or set you back from achieving all of your goals. You knew all the right words to say, how to love every single person around you, how to move with kindness and to really live every day to the fullest. I strive to be the person you were for 28 years, strong, intelligent, funny, charismatic, loving, the list goes on big cuzzo. You were loved by so many people Danny. You were perfect inside and out. You fought this long fight as hard as you could and you beat the doctor’s odds. I’d do anything to have another movie marathon with you. I am so very proud and honored to be your little cousin. Because of the strength and faith you possess, I consider you to be one of the strongest women I have ever met. Amid the ups and downs of Danny’s life, your conviction and faith in Jesus did not waver. There is no doubt that you are an exceptional mother due to the commitment you have shown to Danny throughout his ordeal.

Daniel as he was affectionately called was easy going, his smile was captivating with his soft voice. Danny was a warm caring human being who loved life and enjoyed it to its fullest though short. He was always willing to explore even skydiving, something none of us would dare to attempt. Danny did not allow his health challenges to slow him down, he always found something new to occupy his time. Danny would always have a special place in our hearts, a void would always exist.

Q: How did you meet Daniel?
A: I met Daniel a few years ago while working together at MSK. Although Daniel wasn’t a loud person, he had such a welcoming presence and many of us were drawn to him. He was great under pressure, never got angry and made sure all of our days ran smoothly. As we grew closer and went for outings after work or hung out at holiday parties, we got to see his outgoing side, hear about his upcoming trips and witness his amazing dance skills! The first day I met Daniel, he “lost me”. It was 2017 and I was a new employee at MSK. My mentor and him were working together that day. I was observing my mentor for the days assignment. She ended up going to lunch, so Daniel was suppose to watch me. It was a busy day at the plastics front desk. In the middle of the day I had left to go to my meeting with my new manager, when I return, both my mentor and Daniel were shock to see me because they thought that I got lost. We laughed and said that Daniel only had to watch me and he failed and lost me instead. They both said that they completely forgot that I had told them about my meeting and were concerned I had runaway. We laughed about it. And that’s the thing I will miss about Daniel, his infectious laugh. Later on in the day, we all tried this seaweed snack. Both Daniel and I thought it was gross, while my mentor loved it. I realized that you don’t remember the first time meeting someone unless it’s truly impactful. Every now and then after that day, I would always remind him how he “lost me” and we laughed. Daniel always renamed positive and a light for everyone around. And will be missed.

Danny, I don’t know what to say. I am confused, hurt, sad, upset, all those feelings twined into one. There is a huge hole in the family now. I am trying to understand why you were taken so soon, but I know the Heavens have gained an Angel with lots of style, charisma, smarts, and let’s not forget, an amazing smile.
I remember when you and I were road partners every weekend when you were about 2 years old. Then a few years later you were one of my Pre-k students. When you graduated from Pre-k I was by your side as you walked to “I Believe I Can Fly” by R. Kelly. You are now flying high above us.
I was so proud of you and still am!
I knew in my heart you would grow up to be someone great and do great things in life. Despite your life being cut short, you achieved a lot Danny and you did not let any obstacle get in your way. You are a very STRONG young man and I know you would continue to do great thinks in Heaven. I love you to the depths of my soul and I miss you more than you can imagine.

My sweet Danny, where do I begin. My heart hurts so much because you were like the son I never had, There are so many memories. Most of all I miss the way you and my girls grew up together, the three of you were inseparable like the three musketeers. I will miss you running up and down the stairs on your tippy toes, I miss your smile and your laugh. I miss you sitting at the table as we shared so many meals together. I loved the vacations we shared and the holidays too.
I am happy that we got to celebrate your 28th birthday together with family and friends. I loved seeing how happy you were on that day.

I worked with Daniel for over a year in healthcare. He was a kind soul who always had the biggest smile. He was incredibly hard-working. He worked full-time while completing his graduate degree. I was in awe when I saw him sitting in a quiet area during his break or after work to complete assignments and attend lecture. Despite his hectic schedule, I never heard him complain. In fact, he was always mindful of his peers. I remember he would frequently stop by to encourage me when I was getting overwhelmed in clinic and offered to help. It made all the difference during our long shifts.
My heart broke when I heard he passed. He lived a beautiful life and was a light to everyone around him. To Daniel's family: You all had an impact in forming his remarkable character and legacy. He was an angel, and he touched the lives of so many people. I send you my deepest condolences and warmest thoughts.
This photo was an impromptu karaoke night we had in 2019. It doesn't seem coincidental now when I took the picture with those lyrics on the screen. Daniel truly was a friend you could lean on.

I first met Daniel during our undergraduate studies at Rutgers University. We both had Yoruba class together and that’s when I got to experience his tenacious and fierce spirit for the first time haha
I began working at MSK in the summer of 2017 and was pleasantly surprised to find that he worked there as well! We quickly re-connected and kept in touch until I transferred to the BSK location in 2019. Only to find out he would soon be joining me LOL
I was devastated to hear of his diagnosis but I was doubly shocked to see how he was still able to walk around with a smile and still find ways to spread joy. My fondest memory of you was during the BSK happy hour in the summer of 2021. You were dancing like nobody was watching and it just brought me so much joy! You truly were a light in this world and I’m sad you were taken so soon. I’m so happy you’re no longer in pain though, and I send my sincerest condolences to your family during this time. My cousin Danny was a force. I often used to refer to him as “my age,” frequently forgetting he was about a decade younger than I! Cancer took him from us after a long fight. But lemme tell you, our Danny LIVED to the fullest, right up to the end.
I remember when he was first born, sitting in the kitchen of our house in ND, hearing my mother make daily calls on the landline to find out how he was doing, telling us how small he was because of how early he’d arrived, and how he might not live long enough for us to meet him. I remember thinking “Well then let’s go to New Jersey RIGHT NOW, because we HAVE to meet him!”
Needless to say, Danny’s life was full of twists and turns but he weathered it all with a strength I deeply admired and I’m so glad we got the time with him that we did. 28 years is by no means enough time, but considering what a miracle he was from the beginning I’m grateful for every moment.
The end of Danny’s life sits in my memory much like the beginning. Lots of anxious days spent on the phone going back and forth about how he was doing and what we could expect. My last text to Danny told him how much I admired the way he had spent his last few years. He did work he was passionate about, he got an advanced degree, he traveled. He even prepared us for his own passing (like, how badass is that?) in subtle but profound ways, such that now, as much as it hurts knowing I’ll never see his quiet, mischievous, knowing smile again, we have stories, and games, and songs in our lives that are all connected to him, and those impacts will ripple outwards from our lives into the lives of others, and in that way, a little bit of Danny will continue to live on too.
Thank you for that, Danny. I love you forever.

I surely remember the days of visiting in New Jersey with my children, one of whom had you by just one year. The little boy who played with my children and shared his toys when we visited stands out in my mind as if it were yesterday. Summer of ‘96 was the Summer of Danny.
I remember commuting from Brooklyn to Dayton, New Jersey to babysit you for the summer when I was just 16. Changing your diapers, giving you baths to you fighting me as you hated taking that horrible asthma medicine with the nebulizer. I’ll always remember you at 2yrs old with your oversized glasses falling off your small little nose. Waking up in the middle of the night to catch you watching tv with your nose touching the screen and telling you to come to bed and you jumping in to continue to watch tv as I slept.
Rest in peace Danny right next to Auntie Dawn.
