Obituary of Gladys Monica Small

Gladys Monica Small, known affectionately as Mum, peacefully passed away on Tuesday evening, October 17th, 2023, at the age of 103 in Somerset, NJ. USA.

She was born on May 25th, 1920, in Maidstone, Manchester, Jamaica, into the Sinclair family.  Gladys was a devout Christian, God-fearing woman who always had a smile on her lips and a ready biblical quote or hymn for any occasion. She was the beloved wife of the late P Joseph Small and the mother to eight children: Audrey, Anthony(deceased), Wentworth (Kaye), Patricia, Carol (deceased), Clive, and twin daughtersMarcia and Maxine. She was also a cherished aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother to numerous family members, whose names are too numerous to list individually. 

Gladys held a special place in the hearts of all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed. Gladys was a plain-talking, beloved community counselor, known for her heartfelt words and advice spoken with love. 

She had an outgoing nature, a love for music and dancing, and was always ready to go wherever the occasion. Her presence brought joy and comfort to those around her, and she leaves an irreplaceable hole in our collective souls.

Gladys Monica Small will forever remain in our hearts as our beloved family matriarch. Let us bid her farewell, knowing that she has joined the ancestors in eternity. May she rest in peace and continue to watch over us from above.
