To the Alston Family my prayers and condolences go out to you all. My heart is really heavy at this time. Yvette was more then just someone from the church, she meant more then that to us. She was my daughters Godmother, she was a friend. I called her little sis and she would call me brother. We had many of private conversations, that i will cherish and look back on. I was completely shocked when I got that phone call. It took a couple of days for my mind to wrap around this news. My heart still says NOOOOO! I will not question God! I want to know WHY! Yvette, my sister, my baby sister, my friend, my confidant, my rock. I was your Celie and you were my Nettie. You were my Thelma and I was your Louise. I was the one who protected you growing up. I protected you from spiders, and our dog Spike. I can still hear your voice when he wanted play and would jump up on you and you were yelling .."Stop Spike! .... Trevor!!!" I was your partner, your date at events. You were my side chick, my ride or die chick. You were my maid of honor, my kids godmother. You were my friend. I am heartbroken and numb. I was there for you all of our lives. Our bond was strong. I tried to save you, bring you back, but you were gone. There was nothing I would not do for you. I know there was nothing you would not do me.
I know that when you met Jesus, daddy was there too. He probably said, "There's my baby!" and Aaliyah was there saying, "There's my mommy". I have to find comfort knowing you are at peace now. No more sorrow from this earth that heaven cannot heal. You are free now and have earned your wings. I will love you for the rest of my life.
